Day One Results 
Houston (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team battled the elements on day one of the Rice Invitational, Friday at the Jake Hess Tennis Stadium in Houston. Although rain delayed play for period Friday, the Mustangs were not disheartened, picking up six victories on the day.
Darren Walsh and Adam El-Effendi led the way for the Mustangs, each earning a point in singles competition before teaming to defeat the Tulane tandem of Joe Young and Adam Bernstein, 8-4 in doubles play.
Other Mustangs to earn victories in singles play were Aftem Baradach and Tobias Flood. Baradach defeated Michael Nusslein of Rice 7-6 (6), 7-5. Flood did not surrender a set in his match against Jose Garcia of Prairie View A&M, winning 6-0, 6-0.
The Rice Invitational will continue on Saturday. Full results will be available at the conclusion of play.
