W-Soccer: Rematch Of 1995 College Cup Semifinal Highlights Weekend

SMU (1-4-0) plays UTSA (3-4-0) in San Antonio this weekend, before coming home to face No. 2 Portland (7-0-0), the first meeting of Portland and SMU since the 1995 College Cup Semifinal, SMU's only appearance in the event. SMU is coming off of close losses to Saint Mary's (Calif.) and now No. 9 California in the Saint Mary's Tournament. Kim Peabody and Leslie Briggs were named to the All-Tournament team. SMU begins Conference USA play after this weekend, starting off with road matches at Colorado College and UTEP.

Punctual Peabody
Senior Kim Peabody's streak of minutes played came to an end at Saint Mary's after 21 games and 1831 minutes, despite picking up her first assist of the season during that contest. She still has shown a remarkable ability to stay on the field, having played 90 minutes every other game this season, and has played fewer than 90 minutes only three times in her last 29 games, dating back to 2007. Peabody was named first-team all-Conference USA in 2008 for her excellent defensive play, and was a Preseason All-Conference selection by the league's coaches. Peabody was also selected to the 2009 Saint Mary's Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Scovill Scores
Kenzie Scovill is two-for-two on shots this season, scoring the game-winner against North Texas, and adding her second tally against No. 16 California. Scovill, a freshman from Lewisville, Texas native has started every game for SMU so far, and has played 352 of 450 possible minutes this season.
Transfer of Power
Leslie Briggs has quickly made an impact on SMU after transfering from North Carolina. The Carrollton native is tied for the team lead in goals with two, and was named to the 2009 Saint Mary's Invitational All-Tournament Team.
C-USA Championship
The C-USA Women's Soccer Championship will take place at SMU's Westcott Field from November 4-8, with the top six teams from the league gaining entry.
