DALLAS (SMU) - Leone Cruz headed in a 78th minute goal, but SMU could not get past Cal State Northridge in the final game of the Prego's Express Italian Invitational. Cal State Northridge improved to 5-1 after going undefeated in the Prego's Express Italian Invitational, and SMU fell to 3-3.

Cal State Northridge got an early goal from Cameron Sims, putting them ahead in the 7th minute. Cal State Northridge added a second goal in the 69th minute from Dylan Riley, giving them a 2-0 advantage.

In the 77th minute, Cal State Northridge's Ruben Rodriguez was sent off, which set up a 78th minute goal for Leone Cruz, with an assist for Dane Saintus. The goal was the first of the season for Cruz, who was selected to the 2009 All-Conference USA Preseason Team, and the assist was the fourth of the season for Saintus.

SMU returns to action on Friday, September 25 when they host UAB at Westcott Field to begin Conference USA play, and the SMU Classic tournament.
