DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Soccer's Jaylinn Mitchell and Charles-Emile Brunet were selected in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft on Dec. 18. 

This is the 13th time in program history that two or more Mustangs have been drafted to the MLS in one year (1996, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2018, 2021 and 2024)

Jaylinn Mitchell | Minnesota United FC
Mitchell was selected by Minnesota United FC in the 23rd overall pick. He is the first Mustang to be picked in the first round since Nicky Hernandez in 2021.

The left wing back is one of SMU's key attackers through three seasons. He has made 60 appearances for the Mustangs, recording nine assists and four goals. He was the first Mustang to earn ACC Offensive Player of the Week. 

Mitchell was crucial to SMU's 2025 season, in which the team won the ACC Championship. He recorded a career single-season high of six assists this past season.

Charles-Emile Brunet| Nashville SC
Brunet was picked No. 20 in the third round (80^th overall) by Nashville SC.

The central midfielder started all 20 matches for the Mustangs in the 2025 season after transferring from Central Arkansas. He was a crucial midfield conductor for SMU's ACC Championship title run, making four assists and scoring a goal through four matches in the tournament.

Brunet recorded six assists and two goals through the season. He earned Third Team All-ACC honors after the regular season and was also named Second Team All-South Region.
