DALLAS (SMU) - After a closely contested doubles match that saw two tiebreakers, the SMU men's tennis team was able to pull away in singles, beating UT Pan American 5-2 Monday afternoon at the Turpin Tennis Center.
Pablo Perez-Espanaola moved his singles record to an impressive 4-1, after dominating his opponent 6-3, 6-2 in singles. Earlier in doubles play he teamed with Artem Baradach to survive over their opponents 8-7 (5). Darren Walsh showed dominance in singles match, beating Nirvick Mohinta 6-2, 6-1.
With the win SMU is now 3-2 on the season. The team will take nine days off before returning to action on Feb. 3 in Waco against Baylor.
