SMU vs. MEMPHIS
SMU is 1-5-0 in the all-time series against Memphis. The teams last met Oct. 16, 2009, with the Tigers defeating the Mustangs 2-0 in Memphis.
EIDSON NAMED C-USA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior defender Kaitlyn Eidson was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after netting three of the team's four goals, including two game-winners, in victories over C-USA rivals UTEP and Colorado College. Eidson is in the middle of a four-game goal streak (5 goals) and scored the game-winner in three consecutive contests for SMU. Eidson has taken just six shots on the season, five of which have been on frame. She leads the team in goals (5), points (10) and game-winning goals (3).
SMU UPENDS UAB
SMU picked up its fifth consecutive win with a 3-1 victory over UAB Friday night at Westcott Field. Eidson scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season in the seventh minute when she finished a deflection off of a UAB defender to put the Mustangs up 1-0. Senior Kristin Medeiros tallied her second goal of the season when she headed in a cross from sophomore Ryanne Lewis in the 33rd minute. In the 44th minute, Lewis added insurance for the Mustangs by finishing a cross from just outside of the goal box. UAB's lone goal came when Tiffini Turpin finished a breakaway in the 90th minute.
MUSTANGS DOWN COLORADO COLLEGE
SMU defeated Colorado College 3-1 Oct. 10 at Westcott Field. Eidson opened the scoring with a header just 1:20 in after a corner kick. Eidson added a second goal in the 72nd minute when she headed in a corner kick from Lauren Shepherd. In the 84th minute, sophomore Shelby Hartweck added insurance for the Mustangs when she shot the ball into the far upper 90 for her third goal of the season.
SMU SHUTS OUT UTEP
SMU downed UTEP 1-0 Friday night at Westcott Field. Eidson headed in a goal in just the ninth minute of play on a cross from defender Courtney Smith. The goal was Eidson's second of the season, second game-winner and second in as many games. The win was the third consecutive victory for the Mustangs and third consecutive clean sheet.
NO GOAL FOR YOU!
Junior Courtney Webb picked up her personal-best seventh shutout of the year Oct. 8 against UTEP. Through 16 games this season, Webb is 10-4-2 with a 0.79 goals-against average and a .840 save percentage.
AT HOME ON THE HILLTOP
The Mustangs are taking full advantage when playing on their home turf, posting a 7-1-1 record at Westcott Field in 2010. SMU has outscored its opponents 16-6 and recorded four shutouts in the nine contests on the Hilltop.
CANNED FOOD DRIVE
SAAC (Student Athlete Advisory Committee) is hosting a canned food drive Oct. 17-23 as part of Conference USA's Changing Lives community outreach competition. All C-USA institutions are participating in the competition and the member institution that collects the most food by weight during its food drive will be awarded the Conference USA Cup. Canned food donations can be dropped off at Sunday's game.
NEXT GAME
The Mustangs head east to take on C-USA foes Southern Miss and UCF. The Golden Eagles are 3-10-2 on the year and 0-6-1 in C-USA action. The Knights hold a 9-3-3 record overall and are 4-1-2 in conference play.
