SMU vs. NORTH TEXAS
SMU is 12-3-3 all-time against North Texas. The Mustangs and Mean Green last faced off Sept. 4, 2009, when SMU nabbed a 1-0 win. Kenzie Scovill scored her first career goal in the Mustang victory.
MUSTANGS TRIP UP NEW MEXICO
SMU defeated New Mexico 1-0 Sept. 12, handing the Lobos their first loss of the season. Junior Logan May headed in the game-winner in the 78th minute off a cross from Lauren Shepherd. It was May's first goal of the season.
NO GOAL FOR YOU!
Junior Courtney Webb picked up her fourth shutout of the year Sunday against New Mexico. Through seven games this season, Webb is 4-2-1 with a 0.69 goals-against average.
AT HOME ON THE HILLTOP
The Mustangs are taking full advantage when playing on their home turf and hold a 4-1-0 record at Westcott Field in 2010. SMU has outscored its opponents 8-3 and posted three shutouts in the five contests on the Hilltop.
OKLAHOMA STATE OUSTS SMU
The Mustangs fell, 2-1, to No. 14 Oklahoma State Sept. 10 at Westcott Field. Scovill scored her first goal of the season for the Mustangs. SMU had multiple chances to tie the game, but the Cowgirl defense denied the Pony comeback.
MUSTANGS DOWN DAVIDSON
The SMU women's soccer team shut out Davidson 3-0 Sept. 5 at Westcott Field. Freshman Jessica Bartol opened the scoring with a shot from eight yards out in the 26th minute. The goal was the first of her collegiate career as well as the eventual game-winner. Less than a minute later, senior midfielder Kristin Medeiros collected her first goal of the season when she headed in a corner kick. In the 50th minute of play, freshman Shelby Redman fired a shot from 30 yards out into the far corner of the net. It was her second goal of the season and second in as many games.
FRESH FACES ON THE FIELD
The Mustang newcomers are making an impact on the team as Redman, Bartol and Amanda Burgardt have already found the scoresheet for SMU. Defender Courtney Smith has started every game, and Margaret Ellen Crawford and Katie Bass have come in as subs for the Mustangs.
PONIES BURY THE BILLIKENS
SMU defeated St. Louis University 2-1 Sept. 3 at Westcott Field. Freshmen Burgardt and Redman each scored their first career goals en route to the Mustang victory. The Ponies recorded a season-high 24 shots on the night, while holding the Billikens to just seven.
NEXT GAME
SMU will host the St. Mary's Gaels Sunday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at Westcott Field. St. Mary's is 6-1-0 on the season in 2010. The Gaels have posted five shutouts and outscored their opponents 14-4 in those seven contests.
