SMU vs. ST. MARY'S
SMU holds a 3-2-0 edge in the all-time series against St. Mary's. The two teams last met Sept. 11, 2009, in the St. Mary's Invitational, with the Gaels defeating the Mustangs 3-2. Leslie Briggs and Logan May each scored their first goals of the season in the loss.
DUEL IN DENTON
SMU beat North Texas 3-2 in overtime Friday night. The Mustangs twice rebounded from one goal deficits to grab the win. Ryanne Lewis and Shelby Hartweck scored in regulation for the Mustangs, and May tallied the game-winner. The goals by Lewis and Hartweck were their first of the season. May's goal was her second of the season and second consecutive game-winner. With the win, SMU handed North Texas its first home loss of the season.
MUSTANGS TRIP UP NEW MEXICO
SMU defeated New Mexico 1-0 Sept. 12, handing the Lobos their first loss of the season. May headed in the game-winner in the 78th minute off a cross from Lauren Shepherd. It was May's first goal of the season.
NO GOAL FOR YOU!
Junior Courtney Webb picked up her fourth shutout of the year Sept. 12 against New Mexico. Through eight games this season, Webb is 5-2-1 with a 0.85 goals-against average.
AT HOME ON THE HILLTOP
The Mustangs are taking full advantage when playing on their home turf, holding a 4-1-0 record at Westcott Field in 2010. SMU has outscored its opponents 8-3 and posted three shutouts in the five contests on the Hilltop.
OKLAHOMA STATE OUSTS SMU
The Mustangs fell, 2-1, to No. 14 Oklahoma State Sept. 10 at Westcott Field. Kenzie Scovill scored her first goal of the season for the Mustangs. SMU had multiple chances to tie the game, but the Cowgirl defense denied the Pony comeback.
MUSTANGS DOWN DAVIDSON
SMU shut out Davidson 3-0 Sept. 5 at Westcott Field. Freshman Jessica Bartol opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal, the eventual game-winner, in the 26th minute. Less than a minute later, senior midfielder Kristin Medeiros collected her first goal of the season. In the 50th minute of play, freshman Shelby Redman added her second goal of the season and second in as many games.
PONIES BURY THE BILLIKENS
SMU defeated St. Louis University 2-1 Sept. 3 at Westcott Field. Freshmen Burgardt and Redman each scored their first career goals en route to the Mustang victory. The Ponies recorded a season-high 24 shots on the night, while holding the Billikens to just seven.
NEXT GAME
The Mustangs head to Houston next weekend to begin Conference USA action. SMU meets Houston Sept. 24 at 7 p.m., before facing Rice Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. The Cougars are 4-2-1 on the season and the Owls hold a 3-4-0 mark.
