SMU vs. MEMPHIS
Since joining C-USA, the Mustangs are 1-5 against the Tigers. Memphis won last season's clash 3-0 on October 17 at Westcott Field.
SMU vs. UAB
The Mustangs are 4-2 all-time against the Blazers, winning the last two matches by a combined score of 4-1.
MUSTANGS BLANK COUGARS
After a slow start to the game for both sides, Kenzie Scovill got the Ponies on the board in the 20th minute. After a Shelby Hartweck shot was deflected, Scovill one-timed the rebound. Houston goalkeeper Cami Koski came up with a second-straight save, but again couldn't hang on to ball. Scovill took advantage, burying the shot in the back of the net for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
OWLS SLIP PAST MUSTANGS
In a deadlocked match for 80-plus minutes, Rice's Gabriela Iribarne and Quynh-Nuh Truong got on a 2-on-1 break deep in SMU's half in the 84th minute. Irabarne passed the ball to Truong on the left side, who then slotted a shot to the right side of the goal past Courtney Webb for the game-winner.
WINNING TOUCH
With her game-winner goal against Houston, junior Kenzie Scovill currently has three on the season which ranks second in Conference USA.
SHARING THE WEALTH
SMU has scored 16 goals on the year, with seven different players finding the back of the, including one own goal. Kenzie Scovill currently leads the team with four goals. Of the team's 12 assists, ten different players have tallied at least one, with Mallory Baum and Briana Gaines recording two apiece.
SPINNING A WEBB
In 11 starts, goalkeeper Courtney Webb has recorded 31 saves, including four shutouts. The senior currently holds a 0.82 goals against average, which ranks third among keepers in Conference USA.
EIDSON'S BIG WEEK
Senior central defender Kaitlyn Eidson notched a pair of goals over the weekend (Sept. 23-25), the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over then-No. 19 UCF, along with a late goal to seal a 3-1 win over Southern Miss. Her performances garnered both conference and national recognition, being named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, as well as being tabbed to the Soccer America Women's Team of the Week and CollegeSoccer360.com's CS360 Primetime Performers Weekly Honor Roll.
MUSTANGS GOLDEN AGAINST EAGLES
Less than 48 hours after recording the program's first win over a nationally-ranked opponent, the Mustangs continued clicking when Southern Miss came to Dallas. Malloy Baum ignited the SMU offense with a fourth minute goal and Kenzie Scovill added another in the 35th minute. After a late goal by the Golden Eagles cut the lead in half, Kaitlyn Eidson put the game out of reach in the 86th minute with her second goal of the weekend.
DE-KNIGHTED
In the Conference USA opener, SMU pulled off some heroics at Westcott Field on Sept. 23, unseating the defending C-USA regular-season champions and preseason favorite, No. 19 UCF Knights, 1-0 behind a goal by Kaitlyn Eidson in the 63rd minute. The central defender redirected a low, line-drive shot by Courtney Smith on a free kick outside of the Knights' penalty box. The win was the Mustangs first victory over a ranked opponent since November 15, 2002 when SMU knocked-off No. 11 Texas 2-1 in the first round the NCAA tournament.
NEXT GAME
SMU will be back in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 15 to begin its final homestand of the season as the team hosts Marshall (2-8-2, 0-3-1). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Westcott Field.
