SMU vs. Prairie View A&M
Sunday's match will be the second time the Mustangs have ever squared off against the Panthers. The lone match in the series' history was in 2008 at Westcott Field, a 5-1 victory in the Mustangs' favor.
Home Cooking
The Mustangs are 2-0 this season at home, outscoring Stephen F. Austin and UTSA 4-1, while outshooting the two sides by a combined 26-17, and putting eight more shots on frame.
Unlucky 10
Last weekend, the 10th minute of both matches was the difference as the Mustangs had a pair of 1-0 defeats in Los Angeles. All-American Sydney Leroux netted the game-winner for then-No. 6 UCLA in the Friday match, while a rebound off of a penalty kick by Brittney Sanford was the difference two days later at Loyola Marymount.
Mustangs Turn Green
Not having lost in Denton, Texas since the beginning of the North Texas rivalry, SMU saw itself in unfamiliar territory on Sept. 2, falling to North Texas 2-1 on the road. NT's Nikki Crocco scored her second goal of the night, and the eventual game-winner, with just over three minutes left in front of a record-breaking green-clad crowd at the Mean Green Soccer Complex.
Smith Blasts Sooners
In a tightly contested match, sophomore defender Courtney Smith broke open the game in the 73rd minute with a strike from outside the top of the box after freshman Briana Gaines earned the Mustangs a free kick.
Baum's Away
Junior Mallory Baum currently leads the team with five points. Three of her eight shots have led to Mustang goals, a 25-yard low-liner against Stephen F. Austin, a 12-yard one-timer under the crossbar against UTSA and a 22-yard scorcher off of the crossbar at Arkansas that dropped to Rikki Clarke, who scored the team's first goal of 2011.
Mustangs Shutout UTSA
SMU goalkeeper Courtney Webb recorded her first shutout of the season against UTSA on Aug. 26. The Mustang defense shut down the Roadrunners, allowing only four shots, one on goal, in the team's 2-0 victory.
Amelia Takes Flight On SFA
It didn't take long for sophomore Amelia Ambrose to take make her mark on the 2011 Mustangs since transferring to SMU during the summer. With just over two minutes remaining in a 1-1 game against Stephen F. Austin on Aug. 22, the substitute broke free on the left side of the penalty box before placing the ball into the top right corner for the eventual game winner.
Tricky Rikki
The Mustangs top-rated recruit Rikki Clarke is one of six Ponies to record 500-plus minutes through five games and has been a nightmare for opposing defenses when on the attack. In her first career start, the Keller, Texas native played a key role for SMU, recording four shots, three on goal, including SMU's only goal of the game. Three days later, the midfielder tallied her first assist against Stephen F. Austin.
Mustangs Bit By Razorbacks
On Aug. 19, SMU played as well as they could for 85 minutes, controlling the game and outshooting Arkansas 20-11, but a five a minute span in the first half was the difference as the Hogs scored on their first two shots s of the game.
Welcome Back
Sophomore Jessica Bartol and redshirt freshman Shelby Redman were both back in the starting lineup against Arkansas after missing the majority of the 2010 season due to season-ending knee injuries. The two recorded 11 total starts and combined for three goals and one assist last season.

Along with Clarke, fellow freshmen Olivia Elliot, Briana Gaines, Rachael Larson, Shannon Canty, Lauren White and sophomore transfer Amelia Ambrose all seen the field this season
Eidson Named All-CUSA
After earning back-to-back All-Conference USA Second Team selections, senior Kaitlyn Eidson was named to the Preseason All-CUSA Team voted on by the league's coaches. In 2010, the central defender led the team with five goals, while starting all 22 games and playing every minute (2,068) for the Mustangs.
Next Game
SMU begins conference play next weekend, hosting 2010 Conference USA regular-season champion UCF (4-1-1) on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. Two days later, the Mustangs host Southern Miss (3-2-2) at 2 p.m.
