Box Score vs. New Mexico 
TULSA, Okla. (SMU) - The No. 20 SMU men's soccer team was defeated, 3-1, by No. 3 New Mexico in the Hurricane Classic at Hurricane Stadium on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Mustangs are now 0-2-1 on the season.
Freshman Leobardo Vazquez opened the scoring with his first career goal in the 19th minute. Sophomore Tyler Engel crossed the ball into the box for Brenden Lee, who fired a shot that was blocked. Vazquez collected the rebound and punched it in for a 1-0 lead.
New Mexico answered in the 25th minute when Michael Calderon sent a corner kick to Adrian Mora Delgado who knocked the ball in from a yard out, knotting the score at one. Blake Smith scored the go-ahead goal for the Lobos with his tally in the 67th minute. New Mexico added insurance when Devon Sandoval knocked home a goal in the 77th minute.
SMU heads northeast for matchups at Dartmouth on Sept. 7 and at Harvard on Sept. 9. Dartmouth was defeated 1-0 by Providence in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs defeated the Big Green, 2-1, in overtime on Sept. 16 at the SMU Classic last season.
