Cuadranti Loses In Quarterfinals At Prestigious NTC Invitational

NEW YORK CITY (SMU) - Gaston Cuadranti advanced twice in the A group of men's singles play at the 2012 USTA BJK NTC Men's College Invitational in New York City, before ultimately falling in the quarterfinals to third-seeded Winston Lin of Columbia, 6-3; 4-6; 6-10. Cuadranti was one of three Mustangs competing in the event.

Freshman Evan Bechtel advanced to the round of 16 in the C group of men's singles, losing in straight sets to first-seeded Mike Lampa of St. John's, 1-6; 2-6. Bechtel teamed up with Arturs Kazijevs for action in men's doubles in group A. The duo fell to Arvis Berzins and Ibramhim Shams of Farleigh Dickenson in the second round, 8-6.

The NTC Invitational is hosted by the U.S. Tennis Association and takes place at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center located in the Flushing Meadows Corona Park area of Queens, N.Y. The NTC is the site of the U.S. Open, which concluded play less than two weeks ago.

This event, along with the Tyler Invitational hosted by Tyler Community College, opened SMU's 2012-13 season.
