Final Box Score 
DALLAS (SMU) - A pair of second half goals led the University of Louisville over the SMU men's soccer team, 2-0, on Sunday evening at Westcott Field. The win improved the No. 17 Cardinals to 3-0 in American Athletic Conference action and 7-2-1 overall, while the Mustangs fell to 1-1 in league play and 2-8 overall.
"We came out and I thought we played our best soccer of the year in the first half," Head Coach
Tim McClements said. "Then we came out in the second half and gave up a goal in two minutes and it kind of changed the complexion of things."
Sophomore Ricardo Velazco struck twice in the second frame to lead the Cardinals to victory. An unassisted goal in the 47th minute, and one off an assist from freshman Andrew Brody in the 51st minute, gave Velazco his fourth and fifth goals of the season. The helper was Brody's team-leading sixth of 2013.
The Mustangs' best opportunity of the match came with just over six minutes to play in regulation when sophomore Brenden Lee hit a shot off the inside of the post from six yards out and fellow sophomore Jacob Speed followed it up with his own off the crossbar just a few seconds later.
"I really thought that with a young group we weathered the storm in the first half, then got on the ball and did some nice things," McClements added. "I'm very proud of the guys, and it was a tale of two halves in this one."
Louisville outshot the Mustangs 17-8 in the match, while SMU had the 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Lee, sophomore John Lujano and junior Andrew Morales finished with two shots apiece. Senior Jaime Ibarra finished the match with four saves.
