Senior Spotlight: Brooke O'Hare

DALLAS (SMU) - Brooke O'Hare brings a competitive edge to the SMU women's soccer team in her final season on the Hilltop.
O'Hare, a native of Jacksonville, Florida, came to SMU in 2012 after a stellar prep career. With just a few matches left as a Mustang, the senior said she will miss the friendships she has made with her teammates.
"I'll definitely miss the girls the most, you know, being around the team every day," O'Hare said. "You just develop really great bonds with each girl so you know them so well. It's weird when you don't see them on off days because we're with each other so much."
SMU has four regular season matches left and is the host of the American Athletic Conference tournament. O'Hare said the team has a good shot at playing well in the postseason.
"I think we can go really far if we put our minds to it," O'Hare said. "I think we have the talent and the players to make it, so it's just a matter of us going out there and finishing it."
The Mustang defender said she cherishes every moment being on the soccer team and wants the younger players to do the same.
"My advice is to just have fun, there aren't many games you have each season and you don't want to take it for granted because the time goes by so fast," O'Hare said. "Every game really does matter and you want everyone to play as hard as they can."
O'Hare's favorite professional athlete is Morgan Brian, a member of the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team. O'Hare and Brian played club soccer together for the Ponte Vedra Storm.
The senior is active on campus and started the 'Play Like a Girl' chapter at SMU. She coordinated the 'Play Like a Girl Soccer Clinic' where kids 12 and under worked on their skills with the Mustang women's soccer team.
O'Hare is majoring in public relations and wants a career in the sports industry after she graduates.
