COMPLETE RESULTS
DENTON, Texas (SMU) - The SMU women's swimming and diving team closed the dual-meet season with a 131-112 victory over North Texas on Friday evening. En route to the victory, the Mustangs won eight total events.
Senior Isabella Arcila, reigning American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week, accounted for three first-place finishes including individual wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. She was also part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team of seniors Nathalie Lindborg and Nicole Parmenter and freshman Adrienn Santa.
Freshman Alexandra Manasso logged her first win as a Mustang, outpacing all swimmers in the 1,000-yard freestyle, and SMU continued success in that discipline with wins in the 100-free (Nathalie Lindborg) and 500-free (sophomore Kirsty McLauchlan).
Sophomore Tara-Lynn Nicholas touched the wall first in the 100-yard breaststroke, with teammate and senior Rachel Nicol following closely in second and Erica Donadon placing fourth.
The Mustangs final top finish of the night came from freshman diver Madeline Wainman in the one-meter event. Sophomore Lauren Lamb was SMU's highest finisher in three-meter with a third-place finish.
To open the night, SMU posted second and third place finishes in the 400-yard medley relay with junior Anna Volchkov, Nicol, junior Tiffany Sudarma and Santa earning runner up honors, and senior Eleonor Lindborg, Nicholas, sophomore Samantha Butz and freshman Kyra Kondis placing third.
The 200-yard individual medley saw the Ponies garner second, third and fourth places points as McLauchlan, Nicol and Volchkov finished in order.
Other standout performances included Nathalie Lindborg and Parmenter placing second and fourth, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle; Sudarma with a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and Eleonor Lindborg placing third in the 100-yard backstroke.
SMU is back in action on Saturday as they host UNT and Oklahoma Baptist in a pre-conference time trial exhibition event. The Mustangs will honor nine senior student-athletes at the event, which will be held in Southlake, Texas, at the Carroll Aquatic Center.
