COMPLETE RESULTS
MESA, Arizona (SMU) -- Senior Isabella Arcila broke a pair of Colombian National Records at the Mesa Grand Prix, which took place Wednesday through Saturday at the Skyline Aquatic Center. Six Mustangs competed at the four-day meet with four swimming in A Finals of their respective events.
The Cali, Colombia, native touched the wall in 25.63 for seventh place in the 50-meter freestyle breaking her own National Record set at the Colombian National Championship in July of 2014. Arcila also topped the 100-meter mark in preliminary action with a 55.87 sending her to the event's A Final. In that final, she posted a time of 56.44 for eighth place.
Senior Nathalie Lindborg competed in the B Final of both the 50- (26.00) and 100-meter (57.20) freestyle posting fifth and eighth place finishes, respectively.
Sophomore Ursa Bezan made finals in the 200-meter back and freestyle. Competing in the B Final of the back event, Bezan finished seventh (2:20.86), while the free ended in an eighth place finish (2:06.44) in the C Final.
Junior Anna Volchkov earned her highest finish of the Grand Prix in the C Final of the 200-meter backstroke touching the wall third (2:22.37) on the final night. In the D Final of the 100 event, Volchkov was sixth with a time of 1:06.85.
The Mustangs' final swimmer on their current roster at the event was freshman Adrienn Santa. Santa also competed in her highest final on night four, finishing sixth (58.43) in the C Final of the 100-meter freestyle. The 100-meter butterfly saw the Mustang place third in the D Final (1:03.80).
Nina Rangelova, who completed her eligibility following the 2013-14 season, finished fifth in both the 100- (55.69) and 200-meter (1:59.40) freestyle and won the C Final of the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 25.90.
The Grand Prix concludes the 2014-15 schedule for SMU, which won the American Athletic Conference Championship and posted a 31st place finish at the NCAA Championship.
