DALLAS (SMU) - The Mustang women's soccer team is coming off two consecutive wins against Sam Houston State and Northwestern State, both in convincing fashion.
Everything is starting to click on both sides of the pitch for the Mustangs (3-3-2), as they outscored their opponents last week, 6-1, including SMU's first shutout in a 3-0 victory over Northwestern State.

SMU ALL TIME AGAINST TCU
The Mustangs have been dominant in the head-to-head series against the Horned Frogs, going 27-1-2 all-time against TCU (4-4-0). SMU is undefeated at home in the series, going 14-0.
ABOUT THE HORNED FROGS
TCU has won four of its last five matches, but opened the season with three straight losses. The Horned Frogs' top goal scorer is Michelle Prokof, who has tallied six goals this season. Prokof leads the team in total shots with 14, and has a shot percentage of .429. TCU has used all three of their goalies so far this season, but Shannon Coffer has stood out the most. Coffer is 4-1 overall and has a 0.40 goals against average.
LAST TIME OUT
SMU's Vanessa Valadez and Claire Oates combined for three goals, in a 3-0 shutout against Northwestern State. Oates headed in a goal in the first half, and Valadez would add two goals late in the second period just two minutes apart. It was goalkeeper Shannon Moroney's first shutout of the season.
TWO MUSTANGS RECEIVE WEEKLY HONORS
Valadez and Paige Jacobs were recognized on the American Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Weekly Honor Roll for their performances against Sam Houston State and Northwestern State. Jacobs scored twice against Sam Houston, and finished with an assist against the Lady Demons. Valadez had quite the weekend, tallying three assists on Friday and scoring two goals on Sunday.
OATES HEADS IT IN
The SMU midfielder Oates had her third goal via header of the season. The Mustangs have yet to lose when Oates scores a goal, going 2-0-1.
GOALS! GOALS! GOALS!
The Mustangs have four players who have scored three or more goals this season. Valadez leads the team with four goals, while Jacobs, Oates and Lauren Guerra are tied for second with three each. Last season, only two Mustangs had more than two goals (Oates and Guerra).
BACK LINE STRONG
The Mustang defense has been a force on the pitch in the last few contests. SMU has held opponents to just two goals in the last three matches.
BETWEEN THE PIPES
SMU goalkeeper, Moroney, went 2-0 last week in victories against Sam Houston State and Northwestern State. Along with Mustang goalie, Catie Brown, SMU is tied for the AAC lead in saves with 31. Moroney sports a 2-2-2 record heading into the match with TCU.
LOOKING AHEAD
SMU will begin conference play next week when they host a pair of matches against Cincinnati (Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.) and East Carolina (Sunday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m.) at Westcott Field.
