SMU Closes Out Second Event Of The Season

MIDLAND, Texas (SMU) - The SMU men's tennis team concluded its second event of the fall season at the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational over the weekend.
Juniors Markus Kerner and Julio Olaya and sophomore Charles Nettlefold made their season debut while freshman Markus Knutzon participated in his first collegiate match. SMU posted a combined record of 4-9 with both doubles pairs of Kerner/Nettlefold and Olaya/Knutzon advancing to the quarterfinals.
Kerner and Olaya had stand out performances from his team winning, as the only two players to have won a singles and doubles match.
SMU will split up its team for the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla., and the ITF Futures Event in Houston, Texas, on Oct. 3-11.
