DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU Mustangs picked up their 13th win of the season on Tuesday night, beating UMBC 6-1 inside Turpin Stadium at the SMU Tennis Complex.

SMU (13-4) earned the doubles point with wins on court two and three. Junior Markus Kerner and sophomore Samm Butler improved to 4-3 on the season with a quick 6-2 win on court three. Senior Nate Lammons and junior Arkadijs Slobodkins gave SMU an early 1-0 lead with a 6-3 win on court two, giving the duo their 13th win of the spring.

"A great team win against a team that fought as hard they could fight and I'm proud of our guys," said Head Coach Carl Neufeld.

Junior Yates Johnson extended SMU's lead and his own unbeaten streak with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court six over Kevin Hsieh. Yates has won seven straight singles matches dating back to Jan. 31. Sophomore Ronald Slobodchikov made SMU's lead 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win on court five over Biyik Akinshemoyin. Lammons gave SMU the winning fourth point after a 6-4, 6-3 win against Melker Svard.

Next up for the Mustangs are the Columbia Lions on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.
