The [RV/--] SMU Mustangs (8-3) hosts [RV/RV] Boise State on Monday at 8 p.m. It is the first of a back-to-back for the Mustangs, who host Cal Poly on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Mustangs are 7-0 at home this season and have won 29 straight games at Moody Coliseum, the second-longest active streak nationally. SMU is 32-0 under
Tim Jankovich at Moody Coliseum, the second-best home start by a head coach in NCAA history.
The Mustangs are 8-3 on the season after a 79-66 win against New Orleans at Moody Coliseum on Wednesday. All five starters scored in double figures for the second straight game.
Jimmy Whitt led the way with career highs of 19 points, 8 assists and 3 steals.
The Mustangs are tied for the lead in The American in scoring defense at 60.6 (10th NCAA). SMU has only allowed more than 67 points in one game this season. The Mustangs also lead the AAC with a +4.2 turnover margin (32nd NCAA), a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio (19th NCAA) and 41.4 three-point percentage (19th NCAA).
All five starters are averaging double-digit scoring with
Shake Milton leading the team at 17.8 (4th AAC).
Jarrey Foster averages 15.0 (13th AAC),
Ethan Chargois at 13.0 (19th AAC), Ben Emelogu 10.7 and
Jimmy Whitt at 10.7. Emelogu is leading the AAC in 3-point percentage at 57.4 on 27-44. SMU has five guys averaging at least 4.4 rebounds with Emelogu and Chargois leading the Mustangs at 5.6 per game followed by Foster at 5.5, Whitt 5.0 and Milton 4.4 per game. Whitt leads the AAC at 4.9 assists per game with Milton 2nd in the AAC at 4.5 per game and Foster tied for 14th at 3.2 per contest. Chargois is one of 18 freshmen nationally averaging at least 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds.
LAST GAME (W, 79-66 vs New Orleans on Dec. 13): SMUMustangs.com - DALLAS (SMU) - In the first game back at Moody Coliseum in nearly two weeks, SMU (8-3) grabbed an early lead and coasted down the stretch against New Orleans (2-6), on its way to a 79-66 victory. SMU's strong offensive production came from multiple places with all five starters finishing the game with double-digit points. All five were extremely efficient as well, with each shooting 50 percent or better. As a team, the Mustangs finished 54 percent from the field, including knocking down 11-of-22 shots from 3. SMU registered an assist on 24 of its 29 baskets. The Mustangs consistently found the best shot, leading to the big offensive night. Sophomore
Jimmy Whitt led the way by dropping in a career-high 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. The Privateers struggled to slow down Whitt slashing inside and pulling up around the paint. Whitt also added eight assists and six rebounds to go with his strong scoring night. The Mustangs led by as much as 15, but the Privateers used hot shooting from 3-point range to keep SMU from ever opening up a larger lead. New Orleans hit 8-of-15 shots from behind-the-arc. The Mustangs never trailed in the game and the score was tied for just 46 seconds.

THE SERIES VS. BOISE STATE (5-5): This is the 11th meeting between SMU and Boise State, the second as non-conference opponents. In the first non-conference game between the two schools, Boise State won at home, 71-62, on Nov. 30, 2016. As Western Athletic Conference opponents, SMU posted a 5-4 edge over the Broncos. In Dallas all-time, SMU holds a 2-2 record, with the first contest on Dec. 28, 2001 (W, 80-67). SMU won its last home contest against Boise State, 78-69, on Jan. 29, 2005. In Boise, Idaho, SMU holds a 2-3 record, with the first game March 2, 2002 (L, 63-80). The two teams squared off in the 2003 WAC Tournament, where SMU won 65-58 in Las Vegas, Nev.
LAST MEETING VS. BOISE STATE (L, 71-62 at Boise State on Nov. 30, 2016): BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Chandler Hutchinson scored 21 points and Boise State used a big advantage from 3-point range to take down SMU 71-62. The Broncos made seven 3-pointers compared to one by the Mustangs, who went 1 of 11 from 3-point range. James Reid drilled four 3s and finished with 18 points, and Justinian Jessup made three 3s and had 11 points for Boise State. The Broncos went 7 of 21 from behind the arc and 14 of 19 from the foul line. The Broncos held the Mustangs without a field goal for more than four minutes in the first half in turning a one-point deficit into a 28-14 lead that would never be relinquished. Boise State led 44-24 at halftime. The closest SMU came was five points in the final minute.
Ben Moore led SMU with 19 points and 14 rebounds.
Semi Ojeleye added 15 points. SMU was hurt by 16 turnovers and 50 percent shooting from the foul line (11 of 22).

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his second season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 35th season as a collegiate coach, and his 13th as a head coach. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game. AWARDS - AAC WEEKLY HONORS: Shake Milton has been named AAC Player of the week twice. The first was Nov. 13 when he averaged 26.0 points, including a career-high 28 points (7-18 FG, 4-12 3FG, 10-10 FT), with three rebounds and two steals to in a 78-67 win over UMBC. He took his second honor on Dec. 4 when he averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in wins against UTRGV and then-No. 14/18 USC.

CANADA - 2017 SUMMER TOUR: The team had an eight-day trip to Canada from August 7-14. The journey to Montreal and Toronto included three games (3-0) as well as visits to historic sites in both cities and an excursion to Niagara Falls. The trip started in Montreal, where the Mustangs played McGill University (W, 86-83 OT). The team also visited Mount Royal Park and St. Joseph's Oratory, Old Montreal historic district and took a boat ride in the rapids on the Saint Lawrence River. Then in Toronto, the Mustangs played a pair of exhibition games versus Ryerson University (W, 98-86) and M.A.D.E., the Nike Crown League Champion (W, 79-62). The team also went to the the CN Tower and to the Rogers Centre for batting practice and the game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees. The day between games in Toronto, the group took a trip to Niagara Falls.

Semi Ojeleye and
Sterling Brown were selected in the 2017 NBA Draft. Ojeleye was selected 37th overall by the Boston Celtics and Brown was picked 46th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers (traded to Milwaukee). This is the fourth time the Mustangs have had multiple picks in the NBA Draft, but the first time with multiple selections in the first two rounds.

SMU finished 2016-17 No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 23 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. SMU was in the AP top 25 for the final six weeks (after 4 weeks of receiving votes) and the final six coaches polls (after five straight weeks receiving votes). The Mustangs also received votes in the first two weeks of the season. In 2015-16, SMU finished 24th in the AP Poll, its 17th straight poll in the top 25. That is the third-longest streak at SMU and the second-highest total in a season for the Mustangs. It was the third straight season SMU has been ranked in the top 25. TROPHY CASE: Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Mustangs have added six items to the trophy case after adding the 2016-17 American Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.
