NEW ORLEANS (DALLAS) – The SMU men's tennis team beat New Orleans 4-0 Tuesday afternoon at the University Tennis Center. The Mustangs improved to 12-9 (2-2 The American) on the season, while the Privateers fell to 7-10 (2-3 Southland).

SMU earned the first point of the afternoon in the doubles competition. Hunter Johnson and Arkadijs Slobodkins defeated UNO's Hsu and Kramer 6-2 on Court 2 before Samm Butler and Tony Russell beat UNO's Albuquerque and Adoncecchi 6-2 on Court 3, giving SMU the opening point.

In singles play, No. 70 Ronald Slobodchikov beat UNO's Boscarino, 6-2, 6-1, on Court 2 to give SMU a 2-0 lead. On Court 4, Markus Kerner defeated Nicolas Kramer of UNO, 6-3, 6-1 before Tony Russell won in straight sets over UNO's Albuquerque, 6-2, 6-3.

Next, SMU plays at Tulane tomorrow at 3 p.m.
