DALLAS (SMU) – Freshman 
McClure Meissner is tied for second at the Trinity Forest Invitational, after firing a 4-under-par 67 in his collegiate debut Sunday afternoon.
In his first collegiate round, Meissner turned in a card that featured six birdies and an unblemished back nine. The rookie opened the day with a bogey on hole No. 2, but the deficit would quickly be erased with a birdie on No. 6. His final blemish of the day, a bogey on No. 7, was wiped away with birdies on No. 8 and No. 9. With a 1-under-par standing at the turn, the San Antonio, Texas, native would go flawless for the remainder of the day and record three birdies on the home stretch. The newcomer is in a four-way tie for second and two strokes back from the leader, Scottie Scheffler.
As individuals, 
Jackson Markham (-1, 70) and 
Piran Adi (E, 71) are tied for 14th and 23rd, respectively. Markham opened the day with birdies on holes No. 5 and No. 7, before closing out with this third birdie on No. 17. Adi shot even on both sides of the turn, recording four birdies in the process. The redshirt sophomore tallied one on the front nine, before firing three on the latter half.
Graduate transfer 
Clancy Waugh and 
Ben Baxter both shot a 1-over-par (72) to finish the day tied for 33rd. Waugh, the second counting score toward the SMU team count, fired four birdies on the day. Baxter, playing as an individual, recorded two birdies, both of which came on an unblemished front nine.
Dillon Baxter (+3, 74) is tied for 53rd, 
Gray Townsend (+5, 76) is tied for 63rd, 
Henrik Olsson (+6, 77) is tied for 67th and 
Daniel Connolly is tied for 72nd (+7, 78).
In team play, SMU is tied for 11th after carding an 8-over-par 292. Florida leads at 9-under-par (275), while Texas (-8, 276) and Auburn (-6, 278) round out the top-three.
Round two of the Trinity Forest Invitational tees off at 8:30 a.m. CT. SMU opens play at 9:20 a.m., and will be paired with Iowa and Pepperdine starting on hole No. 10.
