KANSAS CITY, Mo. (SMU/United Soccer Coaches) – A pair of Mustangs, Emil Cuello and Talen Maples, were both named All-East Region by the United Soccer Coaches following the 2018 season.

Emil Cuello was selected first-team All-Region after his impressive final season on the Hilltop. Cuello provided the Mustangs with five goals and topped the team with seven assists. Cuello provided heroics in the American Conference Tournament final as he scored the winning PK that clinched the Mustangs a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Cuello has already picked up Tournament MVP honors and an All-Conference selection.

Talen Maples was named third-team All-Region by the United Soccer Coaches. The sophomore defender started all 18 games for the Mustang back line that conceded less than one goal per game. Maples chipped in a pair of goals and contributed six assists. Maples was also selected first-team All-Conference along with Cuello and

The Mustangs repeated as both conference regular season champs and tournament champs during the 2018 campaign. They made the program's 32^nd trip to the NCAA Tournament and finished with a 10-5-3 record including a strong back half that featured a 8-2-1 record.
