DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team fell, 4-0, to No. 18 TCU on Sunday at the SMU Tennis Complex. The Mustangs are now 3-6, while the Horned Frogs improve to 5-2 on the season.

TCU gained momentum early in doubles play. Reese Stalder combined with Bertus Kruger at No. 3 doubles to defeat Charles Nettlefold and Roberto Rosales, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Alastair Gray and Trevor Johnson defeated Eladio Fabregas and Gardiner Perotti, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point.

When doubles play was called, Jan-Simon Vrbsky and Tomas Vaise were keeping up with No. 53 Alex Rybakov and Guillermo Nunez, holding a 4-5 set score.

Despite winning the first sets on courts three and five, the Mustangs couldn't overpower the Horned Frogs. No. 80 Trevor Johnson defeated Charles Nettlefold, 6-1, 6-0, and Eduardo Roldan defeated Gardiner Perotti, 6-4, 6-0. TCU clinched the match on court one when No. 36 Alex Rybakov defeated Jan-Simon Vrbsky, 6-2, 6-3.

The Mustangs return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 17, to take on Incarnate Word (10 a.m.) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (5 p.m.) in a doubleheader at the SMU Tennis Complex.
