DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's tennis team picked up two wins in Saturday's doubleheader, defeating Incarnate Word, 4-2, and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 6-1, at the SMU Tennis Complex.

The Mustangs improve to 5-6 in the spring dual match season.

SMU countered with four singles victories after losing the doubles point to UIW. Roberto Rosales defeated Caleb Dyer, 6-2, 6-2, to even the score. The Mustangs followed with victories from Tomas Vaise (6-3, 7-5), Gardiner Perotti (6-1, 6-2) and Jan-Simon Vrbsky (3-6, 6-3, 6-4). SMU's sole loss in singles play came at No. 3, with Michael Smith falling 7-5, 7-5 to Sebastian Mortier.

Hours later, the Mustangs struck first against UAPB. Perotti and Smith partnered to earn a clean 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, while Vrbsky/Vaise picked up their fifth victory of the season with a 6-1 win at No. 1.

In singles play, Rosales again picked up the first win with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Junius Ross. Eladio Fabregas collected a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 4, while Charles Nettlefold won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 to clinch the match.

All matches were played out, giving wins to Vrbsky (6-2, 6-1) at No. 2 and Vaise (7-5, 6-3) at No. 1.

The Mustangs travel to Stillwater, Oklahoma to face off against Oklahoma State on Sunday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m.
