DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's tennis team claimed the doubles point for the ninth time in 14 matches in Sunday's 5-2 win over Georgia State (7-8) at the SMU Tennis Complex.

The team improves to 22-13 overall in doubles play. Ana Perez-Lopez and Nicole Petchey went unopposed at the No. 3 position. At No. 1, Karina Traxler and Sarai Monarrez Yesaki clinched the point with a 6-0 rout of Lara Vovk and Elizabet Danailova to give SMU a 1-0 lead.

The Mustangs tallied four victories in singles, including a win by default at No. 6 for Tiffany Hollebeck.

Monarrez Yesaki picked up a point for SMU with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Vovk. She improves to 6-7 for the season, with a 2-2 record at No. 5.

Traxler notched the fourth point for the Mustangs, clinching the match win. She delivered a 6-3, 6-3 win in straight sets over GSU's Daniela Ramirez. The junior is a team-best 9-5 in singles play.

As matches played on, all attention turned to Perez-Lopez and Damira Muminovic at No. 4. After dropping the first set, 3-6, Perez-Lopez countered with a 6-3 win in the second set. The junior took the match in the third set tiebreak, 11-9, snapping a four-match slide and improving to 8-5.

The Mustangs will face Troy on Friday, March 16, at noon before leaving for New Orleans for conference matchups against No. 26 Tulsa and Tulane on March 23 and 25.
