SAN FRANCISCO (SMU) –
McClure Meissner and
Jackson Markham each finished in the top 15 after shooting sub-par rounds on the final day of The Goodwin. The duo led SMU over the weekend and helped the Mustangs finish tied for 12th overall.
Meissner fired a 3-under 68 in the final round to finish 14th (-3, 71-71-68) in the 135-player field. The San Antonio, Texas, native turned in an unblemished front nine that featured two birdies. After seven straight pars on the back half, the freshman posted his only bogey on the eighth hole, which was quickly erased by an eagle on the final hole.
Markham finished tied for 15th (-2, 69-72-70) overall after turning in a 1-under 70. After a 1-under front nine, the sophomore carded an even back nine to finish the day.
Gray Townsend posted an even par 71 in round three to finish tied for 38th (+2, 71-73-71). The senior carded three birdies on the day.
Clancy Waugh finished tied for 113th, while
Daniel Connolly finished tied for 117th.
SMU finished tied for 12th (+11, 289-289-285—863) after shooting a 1-over par 285 on the final day. The Mustangs finished tied with Nevada.
The Mustangs return to the course on April 13-15 when they head to the Clemson Invitational.
