SAN MARCOS, Texas (SMU) – Led by
Tochi Nlemchi's second-place hammer throw mark of 47.83m, the Mustangs began competition at the Bobcat Classic on Friday with three athletes competing in two field events.
Nlemchi found her podium-worthy mark on her first throw Friday afternoon after shattering her PR in the hammer throw at last weekend's Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. Tomorrow the thrower will take on the shot put, an event in which she holds the top mark in the conference and the No. 14 mark in the NCAA.
Daniella Murchison joined Nlemchi in the hammer throw, earning her 11
th-place mark of 38.50 on her first attempt.
Freshman
Atipa Mabonga represented the Mustangs in the long jump to close out Friday competition, recording a mark of 5.50m to earn seventh place.
The Mustangs will continue at the Bobcat Classic Saturday beginning with the discus at 11 a.m.
