RECORD BOOK PERFORMANCES
Two Mustangs are looking to land at the top of individual career records lists at the end of the season. Senior Allie Thornton's penalty kick at Temple was her fifth game-winning goal for the season and 12th total in her career. She is now third on the all-time game-winning goals list. Sophomore Celiana Torres is working her way up the individual career record list for assists per game. Her six assists this season put her at .400 per game for her career and a sixth place spot on the all-time list.
DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE
The Mustangs have only allowed three first-half goals all season. Throughout 14 games, SMU's backline has only allowed 61 shots on goal, 49 of which have been saved. Six opponents have been shutout in SMU's 2019 campaign.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 16th matchup between the Mustangs and the Pirates, having met every regular season but two since 2005. The two met twice in the 2018 season, once in regular season and once in the AAC tournament. ECU took both matchups, winning regular season 2-1 and advancing in the tournament on PKs. SMU is 4-1 when taking on the Pirates in Dallas.
SCOUTING ECU
ECU is currently 5-7-2 this season, going 2-2-1 in conference play. The team tied with AAC frontrunner, Memphis, and dropped Thursday night's contest 1-0 at Houston. The Pirates are led by their upperclassmen, with four-year players leading a majority of ECU's categories.
RETURNING MUSTANGS
Twenty Mustangs are returning to the pitch for the 2019 season, for a total of eight seniors, five juniors and seven sophomores. As a team in 2018, the Mustangs finished with a 10-6-2 overall record and a 5-4 conference record, to give them a fifth place conference finish. The 2019 Mustang offense has been led by returners Allie Thornton, Hannah Allred and Celiana Torres. Thornton and Allred lead the team in four categories including goals and both shot columns. Torres leads in assists with six on the season. Courtney Sebazco, Katia Novi and Hailey Bishop have also had strong showings for SMU's offense. The Mustangs' backline is anchored by returners Katharine Herron, Brooke Golik and Mary Meehan, who have been crucial in SMU's six shutouts.
NEW MUSTANG TALENT
SMU added one transfer and five freshmen to its roster for the 2019 season. Junior Jewel Boland, a transfer from Highline College, has been a big part of SMU's offense, playing in all 14 matches and tallying three goals, 29 shots, nine on goal and two assists. Tatum Sutherland hails from Cleburne, Texas and has been SMU's starter in goal this season. She has appeared in all 14 matches and earned six clean sheets with 45 saves. Wayny Balata, a midfielder from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, has made an appearance in 13 matches with 11 shots, three on goal and an assist. Serena Eboh, a Southlake, Texas native, has helped the Mustangs' backline in 12 matches with one start and has had five shots of her own. Sadie Wintergalen joins SMU as a forward from Phoenix, Ariz. and has seen playing time in three matches this season. Maddie Hansen, a forward from Allen, Texas, has not seen any playing time this season due to an injury. She spent most of her club soccer time with Sting, where she was captain and often led the team in goals. She also earned a US Soccer Training invite from 2012-15.

LAST TIME OUT
SMU suffered a tough loss to Cincinnati, losing 1-0 despite maintaining possession for a majority of the match. The Bearcat goal in the 36th minute was just the third first-half goal that SMU has allowed in 2019.
COMING UP
SMU will head out for its last road trip, taking on Tulsa on Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. and Memphis Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. CT.
