The Mustangs earned the No. 8 national seed in the 2019 NCAA Championship after a 16-1-1 season and their third straight AAC championship. They'll host Sun Belt champs, Coastal Carolina, on Sunday night at Westcott Field in the NCAA Second Round.

Per NCAA policy, this is a ticketed event. Tickets can be purchased for the NCAA minimum price of $8 for adults and $3 for children either online or at the ticket window located on the first floor of the Loyd All Sports Center starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday night. Parking will be free in the Binkley Garage.

TOURNEY TIME
The Mustangs punched a ticket to their 32rd NCAA Tournament by winning their third straight AAC title. The 32 appearances are the 8th most in the country and the most of any team that started its program in 1975 or later. SMU is the No. 8 national seed in the tournament - its 7th national seed since 2000 and first since 2011. Under Kevin Hudson (2015-Present), SMU has made the Sweet 16 twice.

LAST TIME OUT
SMU was crowned AAC champions for the third straight season on Nov. 16 when it defeated UCF in Orlando, 1-0. Eddie Munjoma scored the game's only goal in the 24th minute - the 11th of the season for the AAC defender of the year.  It was SMU's 10th postseason conference championship, and 30th overall when you combined regular and postseason trophies.

A STRONG REGULAR SEASON
The Mustangs have had an historic season, scoring the most goals (59) of any SMU team since 2001 (61), and are tied for the most wins pre-NCAA tourney of any SMU team since 2001.  The Mustangs dominated all year, starting 10-0-1 and currently are riding a six game winning streak. SMU went 7-0-1 in games vs. teams that made the 2018 NCAA tourney, including wins over then No. 2 Duke and then No. 3 UCF.

PULSE OF THE POLLS
SMU is ranked No. 5 in the country by United Soccer Coaches (11/19). SMU claimed the No. 3 spot in the most recent RPI. The Mustangs were ranked No. 3 by Top Drawer Soccer (11/18) and No. 3 by College Soccer News (11/18). The Mustangs earned a No. 3 Coaches Poll ranking earlier in the season which is tied for the highest ranking of any AAC team in history.

SMU HISTORY IN THE NCAA TOURNEY
SMU is 35-25-8 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. The Mustangs have made runs to the College Cup in 2000 and 2005, appeared in 12 Elite Eights and 23 Sweet 16s. SMU hasn't lost at home in the NCAA Tournament since 2011.

HOME PITCH ADVANTAGE
SMU fans have poured into Westcott Field this season, averaging 1,663 people at each match, good for 13th most in the country. SMU's accumulated attendance of 16,333 is 10th-best in the nation. The Ponies led the conference in attendance, and were one of two schools in the AAC to average over 1,000 fans at each match. The Mustangs finished their regular season with a 8-1-1 home record. It's the sixth time since 2005 to reach the 8-win mark.

DOUBLE-DIGIT WINS
With SMU's 3-0 win at USF on Oct. 11 the Mustangs picked up their 10th win of the season, marking the 16th time since 2000 that SMU has won 10+ games in a season. October 11 is the fastest the team has reached the 10-win mark since 2010 when it was hit on Oct. 6.

PLAYING THE FULL FIELD
Only twice in league history has the same team led the conference in goals scored and goals allowed, in 2014 and 2017. Both times, the team was SMU. In 2019, the Mustangs currently lead the league in goals (58) and goals allowed (13).

BACKLINE DOMINANCE
SMU's defense has been among the best in the country this season, allowing just 13 goals in the regular season. SMU's starting backline has a combined 228 starts in their careers, led by Eddie Munjoma (62). SMU's 10 shutouts are the 10th most in the country and four more than anyone else in the conference. The Mustangs lead the conference in GAA at 0.70, and are the only school under 1.00.

PROLIFIC OFFENSE
SMU's 58 goals are the third most in the country, but the Mustangs possess the nation's second best scoring offense (3.22). The Mustangs have shared the wealth offensively, as 13 different players have scored this year. Four players have 6+ goals, and two with 10+. SMU is one of four schools nationally with two 10+ goal scorers. SMU ranks fourth nationally in shots per game (17.56) and third in SOG/game (8.22). The teams' 9.56 points/game are the second most in the nation.
