Thornton Earns United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Second Team Honor

DALLAS (SMU) – The postseason honors continue for senior Allie Thornton, who was named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-West Region Second Team, the organization announced on Monday.
The Scholar All-Region teams recognize student-athletes who have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, start more than 50 percent of games, are an elite player supported by playing honors and are a junior or above in athletic standing.
Thornton will graduate at the end of the fall semester with a degree in Sport Management and a 3.72 GPA. This is her first appearance on the United Soccer Coaches' Scholar All-Region list and comes after earning a spot on the All-South Region Team for the second time in her career earlier this month.
During the 2019 campaign, Thornton led the team on offense with 13 goals, six game-winners and 55 shots. Along with honors from United Soccer Coaches, Thornton was named to the All-American Athletic Conference First Team and AAC All-Tournament Team for her performance.
