GCAA Release
NORMAN, Okla. (SMU/GCAA) - The SMU men's golf team earned President's Special Recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
To be recognized by GCAA, team's need to achieve a GPA of 3.0 or better. With SMU's team GPA being a 3.5 or better they were among the 19 other Division I schools that received the President's Special Recognition.
The team garnered success on the course and in the classroom, reaching the quarterfinals at the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2014, and earning recognition from the SMU athletics department, the university and the American Athletic Conference.
The squad was recognized for having the highest GPA of the men's teams at SMU. Ten players were named to the AAC All-Academic Team, with several players earning a spot on the SMU Honor Roll in both the spring and the fall.
The GCAA will recognize All-American Scholars at a later date.
