STANFORD, Calif. (SMU) – Brayden Rudd posted his first U.S. Olympic Trials qualifying time in the 200 meter breaststroke at Phillips 66 National Championships held at the Stanford Avery Aquatic Center in Stanford, California.

Rudd registered a personal-best 2:17.12 in Thursday evening's event finals to come in under USA Swimming's 2:17.89 qualifying standard in the event. Team trials will be held June 21-28, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska, ahead of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Just a sophomore on the Mustang roster for the 2019-20 season, Rudd also competed in the 100 breast at the National event.

In his first season as a Mustang, Rudd qualified for finals in all three of his events at the conference championships. He earned his highest placement of fifth in the 200 breast, while placing second in the Consolation Final of both the 100 breast and 200 IM.
