Hannah Jacobs scored 28 kills in six sets to lead SMU to a pair of wins to start the season Friday. The Mustangs defeated Bradley and UTSA, both in straight sets, on day one of the SMU DoubleTree Invitational in Moody Coliseum.
Jacobs scored 16 kills with just one error, hitting .556 against Bradley. The sophomore then scored 12 kills against UTSA in the nightcap, leading the team in both matches. She was the only Mustang to reach double figures against UTSA, while freshman
Mekenzi Heckmann finished with 11 kills against Bradley and nine against the Roadrunners.

Lily Heim had 72 assists on SMU's 97 kills for the day, leading the Mustangs to a .284 attack percentage in the opener before a .358 hitting percentage in the second match. Senior libero
Montana Watts tallied 19 digs against Bradley and nine digs against UTSA. Heim finished with a team-high 12 digs against UTSA, for her second double-double after posting 12 digs against Bradley.
SMU takes on Stephen F. Austin Saturday at 2 p.m. in the championship match of the tournament. The Ladyjacks also went 2-0 Friday, losing just one set.
