DALLAS (SMU) – No. 25 SMU suffered its first loss of the season to cross-town rival [RV] TCU in a 1-0 final on Sunday night.

The Mustangs (3-1-0) held their own throughout the contest, outshooting the Horned Frogs (3-1-0) 16 to seven with eight of SMU's and three of TCU's being on goal.

After a scoreless first half, TCU found the back of the net in the 56^th minute when freshman Grace Brian scored on a pass from senior Tara Smith to take the lead.

Junior Jewel Boland tallied a total of five shots throughout 62 minutes of playing time, leading SMU's offensive attempts. Four other Mustangs had multiple shots and senior Allie Thornton and junior Hannah Allred both had two shots on goal.

The Mustangs look for a win in their next match on Friday, Sept. 6 at 5:30 p.m. when they take on Northern Colorado at Westcott Field.
