DALLAS (SMU)Â -- SMU men's soccer will put its undefeated season on the line on Monday night when it travels to Durham, N.C. for a showdown vs. No. 2 Duke.Â
BACKLINE DOMINANCE
SMU has shutout all but one of its opponents this season, only allowing 12 shots on goal this season, and just one goal. The Mustangs are one of 11 teams in the country to allow one or fewer goals this season. SMU's starting backline has a combined 153 starts in their careers, led by
Eddie Munjoma (47).Â
STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
In SMU's recent match vs. Valpo, six Mustangs found the back of the net. It's the first time six student-athletes have scored in one game since a 7-0 win over Central Arkansas in Oct. 2014.
ESPN MAINSTAYS
Through five games this year, the Mustangs have made two appearances in ESPN's Top-10 Plays of the Night. The first came on opening night when Nicky Heranandez' bike was the No. 2 play of the night. The second was on Sept. 13 when
Wyatt Priest's bike was named the No. 9 play of the evening.
PULSE OF THE POLLS
SMU was ranked in all three of college soccer's major polls this week. The Mustangs appear in the Coaches Poll for the first time since being ranked No. 8 in last year's preseason poll.
