PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AAC/SMU) --
Nicky Hernandez was named to the American Athletic Conference's Weekly Honor Roll, it was announced Monday afternoon.
Hernandez receives the honor after a two-goal performance vs. Lipscomb in the season opener.
Hernandez' first goal came in the 24th minute of the contest when he received a cross from
Eddie Munjoma, before shooting via bicycle kick and scoring. That play was the No. 2 play of the night on ESPN's Top 10 later that evening and the clip earned over 50,000 views on social media. A few minutes later, Hernandez answered with his second goal of the night when he broke free from the Bisons' defense and snuck one past the keeper the put the Mustangs up 2-0 in the first half.
This is the first AAC weekly honor for Hernandez, who has 27 starts for the Mustangs in his career.
Hernandez and the Mustangs are back in action on September 2 at 7 p.m. when they host HBU at Westcott Field.
