No. 8 SMU is set to open conference play on Saturday night when it renews its rivalry with the Tulsa Golden Hurricane at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium in a game slated to kick off at 7 p.m. CT. It is the 46th meeting between the two programs, who have played nearly every single season since 1980, with multiple postseason matchups.

"We're looking forward to starting conference play on Saturday." Kevin Hudson said. "Tulsa's our first conference opponent and we're looking forward to a good match."

The game can be streamed on Tulsa's Hurricane Vision and you can follow along on the official SMU men's soccer twitter account.

LIVIN' ON TULSA TIME
After knocking off Duke and Denver last week, the Mustangs will renew their rivalry with the Golden Hurricane on Saturday night in Tulsa. Saturday's match marks the 46th time the two teams have played, having met nearly every year since 1980. Kevin Hudson has a 14-9-5 record on the road while coaching the Mustangs.

LAST TIME OUT
No. 8 SMU improved to 7-0-0 on the season on Sept. 21 when they beat Denver 2-1 in OT. DU scored in the 84th minute to go up 1-0, marking the first time SMU had trailed all season. Garrett McLaughlin tied the game in the 88th minute and Eddie Munjoma's golden goal won the game in the 94th minute.

SMU OPENS AAC PLAY
Saturday's contest marks the start of SMU's conference slate. The Mustangs are back-to-back American Athletic Conference champions and looking for a three-peat. SMU has opened conference play with its match vs. Tulsa every season since TU joined the AAC in 2014.

PULSE OF THE POLLS
SMU is ranked No. 8 in the country by United Soccer Coaches for the second straight week. The Mustangs also made appearances in Top Drawer Soccer's poll at No. 4 and in College Soccer News' rankings at No. 8. For the first time since October 14, 2006, both the SMU men's (No. 8) and women's (No. 23) soccer teams are ranked in the top-25.

FAST START
The Mustangs are 7-0-0 for the first time since 2010, when the team started an incredible 9-0-0 before losing a match. SMU is one of nine remaining teams in the nation to have not suffered a loss. The Mustangs are one of nine teams with seven wins.

BACKLINE DOMINANCE
SMU's defense has been among the best in the country this season, allowing just two goals through seven matches. SMU's starting backline has a combined 178 starts in their careers, led by Eddie Munjoma (49).

PROLIFIC OFFENSE
SMU has scored 23 goals this season, including 13 in the first half. The 23 total goals are the third most in the country behind Clemson and FIU. The Mustangs have shared the  wealth offensively, as 10 different players have scored this year, led by Garrett McLaughlin's six goals. The teams' 65 total points are the fourth most in the nation, and 17 more than any other AAC team.

POURING IT ON
In SMU's match vs. Valpo, six Mustangs found the back of the net. It was the first time six student-athletes had scored in one game since a 7-0 win over Central Arkansas in Oct. 2014. SMU has scored six or more goals now twice this season. In the decade prior, SMU netted six or more goals just twice.

HIGHLIGHTS ON HIGHLIGHTS
The Mustangs have made two appearances in ESPN's Top-10 Plays of the Night this season. The first came on opening night when Nicky Heranandez' bike was the No. 2 play of the night. The second was on Sept. 13 when Wyatt Priest's bike was named the No. 9 play of the evening. Priest's goal was the No. 2 play of the week, chosen by NCAA Soccer. A week later, Garrett McLaughlin's 88th minute equalizing bike was chosen as the NCAA's No. 1 play of the week.
