SMU travels to Montgomery, Alabama to participate in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Mustangs will compete in a field alongside Alabama, Arizona, No. 31 Auburn, No. 5 Princeton, South Alabama, No. 19 Wake Forest and Yale.
ABOUT THE BLUE GRAY
- This year marks the 72nd year of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic. The tournament is regarded as one of the top tennis events in the country. One unique aspect of the tournament is that players are hosted by local families during their stay in Montgomery.
- The matchups are held at two different locations, Lagoon Park and O'Connor Tennis Center. Admission to the entire tournament is free and there will be multiple fan engagement events including a kid's tennis festival on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE STANGS
LAST TIME OUT
SMU split matches in Louisiana, dropping a 5-1 final to LSU and winning 4-1 over AAC-opponent Tulane, playing to clinch on both days. The Mustangs earned both doubles points over the weekend to continue this season's streak of earning doubles points in dual matches.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE HONORS
FALL DOUBLES DOMINANCE
- SMU started the fall season by sweeping two doubles matchups and winning a third at the Mizzou Invitational. The team of Claudia Bartolome and Sarai Monarrez Yesaki defeated the No. 5 Tulsa duo of Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner, 6-2.
- Freshman Jackie Nylander and Isabella Tcherkes Zade have started their Mustang careers with a record of 12-3 as a doubles duo. The pair won their doubles draw at the SMU Fall Invitational, three dual matchups at the Red and Blue Challenge and advanced to the semifinals at ITA Texas Regionals.
ORACLE PRO SERIES 25K

Isabella Tcherkes Zade both earned wild cards to compete in the Oracle Pro Series 25K held at the SMU Tennis Complex in October. In singles, the two both won their first match in the qualifying draw, but fell short of securing a spot in the main draw. The two paired up in the doubles draw and advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to a duo from New Zealand and Canada.
UP NEXT
The Mustangs travel to Kansas to take on Wichita State and Kansas State on Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28. Both matches begin at 11 a.m. CT.
