HOUSTON (SMU) – Erin Trahan won her third straight conference title in the 100-yard butterfly to lead the Mustangs on night three of the American Athletic Conference Championships.

The senior became the second fastest performer in SMU history with a 51.68 in prelims to head to finals as the No. 1 seed. Trahan went on to post a 52.04 for the win and the seventh straight conference championship for the Mustangs in the event.

Valentina Becerra joined Trahan in the Championship Final, posting her best career performance of 54.47 for fifth, and Madison Kinsey scored out of the Consolation Final with an 11th place finish in a career-best 55.35.

Felicia Anderson also turned in a podium finish for the Mustangs in her first AAC Championship. The senior finished second in the 100-yard backstroke at 54.07. Gabi Grobler was fourth in the final, setting a career mark of 54.21.

Sam Smith (55.89) and Kiley Vandevier (56.04) were in the 100 back B Final, finishing 12th and 14th, respectively.

Frederica Kizek dropped her career-best time in the 400-yard individual medley to 4:20.80 to finish sixth, while Elise Johnson posted a 16th place finish.

The 200-yard freestyle also had a pair of Mustangs featured, with Janelle Gursoy (1:50.07) finishing seventh and Olivia Grossklaus (1:49.07) coming in at 11th for a career performance.

The final individual competition featured 100-yard breaststroke B Final action, with Julia Yakushi (12th), Olivia Hernandez (13th) and Elise Johnson (14th) finishing in order.

In relay action, SMU's 400-yard medley relay team paired up for second place points to close out the penultimate evening of the championships. Anderson, Grobler, Trahan and Smith covered the distance in 3:37.43.

Action at the AAC Championship concludes Saturday with the mile, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, platform diving and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. CT, with finals to follow at 5 p.m. CT.
