DALLAS (SMU) - SMU men's tennis swept its opening day doubleheader against Prairie View with a pair of 7-0 wins on Thursday at the SMU Tennis Complex.

In the first match, SMU took the doubles point behind a pair of 6-1 wins.
Huntley Allen and
Blaise Fagan took the win on court one while
Kyle Sillman and
John Zisette cruised on court two.

In singles, SMU won all 12 sets during the morning sweep.
Eddie Ross took his win on Court 6 with a 6-0, 6-0 decision. Four Mustangs picked up their first collegiate dual match wins, Zisette (6-1, 6-4),
Callaway Clark (6-2, 7-6), Steinhausen (6-1, 6-1) and
Liam Krall (6-4, 6-2).
Kyle Pham took his court five match 6-4, 6-1.

In the second match, SMU took care of business quickly in doubles thanks to the pairings of Sillman / Bianchi and Allen / Pham.

After competing in Fort Worth earlier in the day,
Jordi Redelijk defeated Prairie View's line two, 6-4, 6-3.
Jack Kite was a 6-1, 6-2 winner on No. 6 while Zisette won his second match of the day, this time with a pair of 6-1 sets. Clark came through in a first-set tiebreaker before winning his second set, 6-2. Ross gutted out his second victory of the day on No. 5. The junior came out on the wrong end of a first set tiebreak before winning set two and prevailing in a third set super tiebreaker. Steinhausen returned to the top line for another win behind a 6-3, 6-3 score.

Across the day, SMU won 28 of 29 sets and started off the season with a Prairie View sweep for the third-straight season. Â

Next up, the Mustangs head down to Austin to face No. 6 Texas (Jan. 16) followed by a trip to Waco to take on 15-ranked Baylor (Jan. 18) in a doubleheader.
