  SMU Men's Tennis faces No. 6 Texas and No. 15 Baylor in its first road trip of the season.
 
The Mustangs travel to Austin to take on the 6^th-ranked Longhorns on Jan. 16 at noon before heading up to Waco to face the 15th-ranked Bears in a Monday doubleheader (Jan. 18).
 
SMU downed Prairie View in the home opener on Jan. 16 with two 7-0 scores. The Mustangs won 28 of 29 sets against the Panthers.
 
Last season, SMU met the reigning national champs Texas for an early season showdown at the SMU Tennis Complex. The Mustangs captured an epic doubles point against the Longhorns in the midst of a 6-1 loss. This will be the first of a handful of marquee ranked matchups for the Mustangs.  In 2020, SMU won its first ranked matchup of the Grant Chen era when the team took down No. 40 USF 5-2 at the SMU Tennis Complex.
 
The SMU-Baylor matchup will be the first since the 2017 spring season. The Bears and Mustangs have met 30 times since the 1985 season. The Mustangs will be looking to correct a losing skid to the Bears that dates back to 2002.
 
Baylor features a full lineup of six nationally-ranked singles players on top of two nationally-ranked doubles pairings. Texas boasts three ranked in singles and one ranked doubles tandem.  
 
SMU returns home on Jan. 22 for the SMU Indoor Invitational as they host Utah, VCU and Wichita State in a round robin weekend at the SMU Tennis Complex.
