DALLAS (SMU) – SMU men's soccer team announced its
schedule for the upcoming 2020-21 season. The reigning conference tournament champions will play each American Athletic Conference opponent twice for a 10-game slate.
The Mustangs will host each AAC team at Westcott Field this season for a total of five home games starting on Feb. 20 versus Tulsa. SMU hosts Memphis on Feb. 27, the reigning conference regular season champions UCF on March 13, USF on March 30 and Temple on April 9 to close out the regular season. All home games will be played at 7 p.m. CT.
SMU also travels to face all AAC opponents, opening the season at Memphis on Feb. 6 before heading to USF on Feb. 13. Later in the season, SMU heads to Temple on March 6, Tulsa on March 27 and UCF on April 2. Times for away games will be announced as they are determined.
The AAC Championship will be hosted by the No. 1 overall seed and semifinals and finals will take place on April 15 and 17, respectively.
The Mustangs return seven of the 11 primary starters from the 2019 season, including two who received All-Conference honors. SMU finished second in the conference in 2019 with an overall record of 18-2-1. In the postseason, the team went on to win the conference tournament and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2010.
