DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's golf team made it back-to-back championships at its home tournament as the Mustangs earned a commanding victory at the Trinity Forest Invitational on Tuesday. SMU also took home individual hardware with Noah Goodwin earning medalist honors.

Coming into the final day of action with the lead, the Mustangs never looked back, carding a 10-under third round to bring their three-round total to 26-under 826. The final score ties the fourth lowest 54-hole tournament score at the event (SMU 826, 2019), and now gives SMU three of the top five team totals in tournament history.

"I'm proud of everyone playing today. They all fought hard together to get an important home W," Head Coach Chris Parra said. "Winning at home isn't always easy with the expectations everyone puts on you.

"Most importantly, all the guys grew as people and players this week and that will help us this coming spring. We have a deep team that's ready to compete."

UT Arlington was the Mustangs' closest competition, coming in at -8.

Individual winner Goodwin (67-65-66—198) fired three rounds in the 60s, including a tournament-low 65 in the second round. His -15 for the tournament was the second lowest score for a champion at the event, and the second lowest 54-hole score from an individual. He posted a tournament-best 20 birdies, six more than any other golfer.

Holden Wisener (72-69-68--209) and Ollie Osborne (71-65-73—209) represented the Mustangs in the top five, with Wisener signing for a 68 in the final round to climb eight spots on the leaderboard. Osborne fired a 73 in the final round, and finished the tournament with two of three rounds at par or better.

Ben Wong (-1, 212) had a pair of rounds in the 60s over two days and improved seven spots with his 69 on Tuesday to finish inside the top 15 and 14th.

Nathan Petronzio rounded out the Mustang line up with a 41st place finish.

The second-round 273 that gave the Mustangs the lead for good tied for the fifth lowest single round at the event. The win also gives SMU at least one tournament win for the fourth consecutive season.

Trip Carter and Dawson Ovard led the SMU B Team, which finished seventh, tying for 26th and shooting 3-over 216 for the tournament. Prescott Butler and Alex Valenzuela went +4 at the two-day event to finish tied for 29th, and Tyson Dinsmore closed the tournament with a -1 in the third round to tie for 41st.

SMU returns to action Oct. 17-19 for the Isleworth Collegiate at the Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windemere, Fla.
