Mustangs Post Five Event Wins On Night Two Of SMU Invite

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's swimming and diving team has opened up a commanding lead on night two of the SMU Invitational. The three-day event is being held at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.

The Mustangs lead the field at 943 points, Drury second at 498 and Hawaii is third at 422.

SMU went 1-2-3 in the 400-yard individual medley, led by a pool and meet record 3:44.27 from Colin Feehery. His time lowers his career best, which sits second on SMU's all-time top performer list. Cotton Fields also posted an NCAA B cut, his second of the Invite (200 IM), of 3:46.49 for runner-up honors and is now fifth all-time at SMU.

Tyler Mansheim came away victorious in the 200-yard freestyle, covering the distance in 1:36.64.

In backstroke action, Jack Easton posted a 47.50 to become the eighth fastest Mustang in history and clock an NCAA B cut. Riley Hill (47.60) finished second, also under the cut.

Parker Hardigree was the event champion on 1 meter, posting a 347.95 for the win. Both Dominic Hoefer (4th, 321.40) and Tyler Coffey (6th, 313.60) hit the NCAA Zone mark as well, the first time for Coffey in the event this season.

Four Mustangs came in under the NCAA B standard in the 100-yard breaststroke, led by Evan McCormick at 53.65 for a third-place finish.

The Mustangs had a fast start to the night, posting a meet-record 1:25.52 in the 200-yard medley relay for the win. The relay feature Cole Bruns, Aedan Lewis, Riley Hill and Justin Baker.

The final day of action takes place Saturday with the 1,650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, platform and 400 free relay.
