LA QUINTA, California – No. 17 SMU men's golf tees off against a field that features six of the top-25 teams in the GCAA Coaches' Poll at The Prestige, February 15-17.

SMU, who finished sixth in the event in 2020, is one of 24 teams that takes to PGA West's Norman Course. No. 3 Arizona State, No. 4 Pepperdine, No. 9 San Diego State, No. 11 Arizona and No. 16 Texas Tech join the Mustangs as ranked teams in the field. North Carolina, Stanford and USC are receiving votes in the field, and the remainder of the field includes Cal, Cal Poly, Colorado, Denver, Iowa State, Long Beach State, Marquette, Nevada, Northwestern, Oregon, Oregon State, TCU, UC Davis, UCLA and Wyoming.

Ollie Osborne looks to repeat his success from last season on the par 71 / 7,100-yard track designed by Greg Norman, where he shot 6-under to tie for fourth, good to earn himself American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week honors. Noah Goodwin used two rounds in the 60s to tie for 10th in the 2020 edition of the event, and enters this week coming off of a tie for third in the Mustangs' season-opening tournament at the Southwestern Invitational.

Mac Meissner tied for seventh at the Southwestern Invitational, and had possibly the most resilient round of the tournament, bouncing back from a 7-over start to play his last 15 holes at 5-under in the final round. Meissner has finished 11th-or-better in eight of his last 10 tournaments, dating back to his individual victory at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championship.Â

Nathan Petronzio appears in his second collegiate tournament after making his career debut at the Southwestern Invitational. The freshman tied for 18th in Westlake Village, California, highlighted by an even-par second round.

Dawson Ovard enters the SMU lineup for the first time this season. Ovard finished tied for 17th at the Individual Spring Kickoff on February 8, his fourth career top-20 finish in six career events.

Prescott Butler and Ben Wong enter the concurrent Prestige Individual Tournament, held down the street at Coral Mountain Golf Club, a par 72 / 7,145 yard layout. Last season, then-senior Jackson Markham won the separate individual tournament at -16, a SMU 54-hole record. Both Butler and Wong competed in the Individual Spring Kickoff, with Butler posting a 1-under 70 in the first of two rounds.
