Final Results
Austin, Texas - No. 14 SMU put together a solid outing at the Longhorn Invitational on Saturday morning at Walter E. Long Lake. The Mustangs gathered three second place finishes over No. 10 Alabama and (RV) Notre Dame in A-Final races, plus a first-place victory over (RV) Tulsa and Oklahoma in the Second Varsity 4+ B-Final competition. SMU won all three of its heats in the Varsity 8+ boats to set them up well for the finals.  

SMU won its first heat on the day in the First Varsity 8+ boat (6:18.053) over Alabama and Oklahoma. This boat came in second (6:21.751) behind Texas in the A-Finals. The Mustangs later took first in the Second Varsity 8+ Heat 2 (6:23.940) taking down Alabama and Oklahoma, and would go on to finish second in the A-Finals ahead of Alabama by 15 seconds.

SMU continued its strong day in the Eights going on to win its heat in the Third Varsity 8+ at the 6:45.047 mark ahead of Alabama and Texas B. This group later grabbed second place (6:44.528) in the A-Final edging out Alabama by three-tenths of a second.

The Mustangs took third in the Second Varsity 4+ Heat 2 with a time of 7:25.360 behind Texas B and Alabama, but beat out Oklahoma. In the B-Final race the Mustangs crossed the finish line at the 7:33.600 mark ahead of Tulsa by 20 seconds.

SMU's First Varsity 4+ took second in Heat 2 at the 7:27.092 mark ahead of Oklahoma. The Mustangs would go on to take fourth in the Final A race with a time of 7:33.421.
