BOX SCORE    SEASON STATS

DALLAS
(SMU) – SMU fell to No. 29 Texas Tech, 4-2, on Thursday afternoon at the SMU Tennis Complex.

"Great fight from the team tonight," said head coach Jeff Nevolo  "We put ourselves in a position to take the match and came up short.  This team has responded well to adversity all year long and we plan to do that after this one as well.  Two great opportunities in Houston this weekend.  We will be ready. "

"To our seniors Cameron and Chandler; thank you," continued Nevolo. "Both have shown great commitment to the program we are building.  We have more great experiences with them ahead this season and we look forward to it."

In the final home match of the regular season, the Mustangs started strong with a solid doubles victory over the Red Raiders. Chandler Carter and Claudia Bartolome cruised to a 6-2 win on court one. A pair of matches went into tiebreakers. Nicole Petchey and Winslow Huth put the Mustangs in front with a 7-3 tiebreaker win.

The Red Raiders gained the edge by taking five of six first sets. The Mustangs battled back forcing three third sets.

Huth lost, 6-1, 6-4 on line three against No. 124 Margarita Skriabina to even the score. After losing her first set, 6-1, Hadley Doyle pushed her match to a third set with a 6-4 win in the second. Tech would earn its second point of the day with a win in the third.

Petchey got off to a fast start thanks to a 6-0 score in the first. Her opponent, Metka Komac, rallied to win the final two sets and put the Red Raiders up 3-1.

Bartolome had a back-and-forth match victory for the Mustangs' second point of the night. After losing a lead in the first set, Bartolome battled back from down 0-3 to force a third set. She finished it off with a 6-3 win in the third.

Carter played a pair tight sets on court four, falling, 7-5, 7-6 to end the dual match.  Jackie Nylander split the first two sets with Lisa Mays on court one and was on serve in the third at the time of clinch.

The Mustangs move to 17-9 on the season with just their second loss at home all season. The 29th-ranked Red Raiders improve to 13-5.
