PREVIEW
No. 12 SMU will make it first trip in program history to the final stage of the NCAA Championships in Sarasota, Florida May 28-30 at Nathan Benderson Park. The 22-team championship begins on Friday, May 28 with the 1V8+ boat competing at 8:12 a.m. The 2V8+ boat will then take the water at 8:48 a.m. Lastly, the V4+ boat will take on its heat at 9:36 a.m. All times will be CT.
SMU's V8+ earned the highest event seed in American Athletic Conference history at No. 10. The 2V8+ came in at No. 9 which was also an AAC record-high seed for the event. Lastly the Mustangs' V4+ will be the No. 16 seed.
LAST TIME OUT
SMU won its first conference championship in program history at the American Athletic Conference Championships on May 16. The Mustangs had a clean sweep, winning all four races at Melton Lake. With the championship crown, SMU earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
TOP-20
SMU opened the 2021 season by coming in the POCOCK USROWING/CRCA preseason rankings at No. 20. The Mustangs have since moved their way up as far as No. 11 this year, which marks the highest ranking in program history.
