DALLAS (SMU) - SMU Athletics and the SMU Athletics Compliance Office hosted the annual Lone Star State Compliance Summit on Friday, April 30. The summit was conducted in a virtual format and was attended by compliance administrators from every NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institution in Texas.
In addition to athletics compliance administrators from the State of Texas, the summit also included presentations from NCAA staff and the Texas Office of the Secretary of State. Sessions included hot topics such as Name, Image, Likeness (NIL); One-Time Transfer Rule; NCAA Enforcement; and Athlete-Agents. The summit also included discussion about recruiting rules and updates in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"The Lone Star State Compliance Summit is such a meaningful event for our institution and our state," said
Kyle Conder, SMU Athletics' Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director. "This is the best opportunity for athletics compliance administrators in Texas to interact with each other and share best practices. We are proud that SMU Athletics is an established leader in athletics compliance."
